IEM 600R Stereo Bodypack Receiver
IEM 600T Stereo Transmitter
Our first impression of the BES Audio IEM 600R Stereo Bodypack Receivers was a great one. They came in really professional looking equipment boxes, which surprised us, because we were just expecting the equipment, and not the quality cases to carry them in. We were sitting in our living room in Springfield, TN, when we heard the UPS man show up, and we were super excited to see what BES Audio had sent us. We were shocked at how neat and organized everything was in their cases. We felt that in some degree we were in awe because the equipment we were dealing with was very professional, which is uncommon for most indie artists when dealing with other companies.
We opened the box and were impressed how neat the packaging was, and the box had room not only for the IEM (In Ear Monitor) bodypacks, but also for the chords and everything that came along with them. Our first impression was, “Wow, this is awesome!” We were like, “Man, this is legit!”
The wireless in-ear monitor bodypacks are a small rectangle shape, all black, with easy-to-read white letters on the front and back. The bodypack is about four inches long, and one and a half inches thick. We were surprised at how, in the first moment of holding them, we recognized durability, that they were not of cheap quality or easily breakable, which eased our minds; they won’t break if accidently dropped. It has a knob on the top that is used for turning on the bodypack, and for adjusting the volume levels in your ears. It’s easy to understand and easy to use. To the left of the knob, there is a stereo input jack for your headphones. It also has a 3-inch long antenna out of the top of it that is durable and discreet, not in the way of anything.
In the center of the bodypack, there’s easy-to-grip notches to flip open the bodypack to reveal where the batteries are inserted (requiring only two AA batteries), and the controls for dialing in frequencies, which consist of an “up” and “down” selector button, one “set” button, and one “escape” button. On the front of the bodypack, there is BES Audio’s logo and item description number, which just makes the product look even more professional and trustworthy. At the top of the front of the bodypack, there are two indicator lights, one for showing if you have connection with your radio frequency transmitters, and the other to show if there are low battery levels. When you turn on the pack, in the top center of the front of the bodypack, a vibrant blue LED screen appears, with white lettering and digits, clearly indicating the frequencies, your group, your channel, an easy-to-read battery level indicator, and a frequency lock indicator.
On the back of the bodypack, there’s a clip that you can attach the receiver to your belt, guitar strap, or pocket easily. There’s also a serial number and a bar code, and a sticker of the frequency range, showing the frequency range of the receiver, which for our own bodypacks are 838-865MHz.
When we opened the box, to our surprise and intrigue, we also found that, along with the in-ear monitors were some awesome ear buds that were included with every in-ear monitor pack that was sent. With each ear bud set came an individual small, round, sturdy, black carrying case which unzipped to reveal the ear buds. The ear buds are professional grade, high quality, not only in sound, but also in build. The cables for the ear buds are long, which make it convenient for routing the cable from your in-ear monitor receiver to your ears. They also came with inter-changeable silicon ear-buds that vary in sizes, and fit comfortably into anyone’s ears. They look spiffy and shiny, very discreet. They contour to the shape of your ears, so that when they are in your ears, they are not very noticeable.
The overall usage of the BES audio’s user interface of has been a delight to work with, and is simple enough for inexperienced users to just pick up and read a few instructions, and be able to understand. But also the professionalism of BES Audio’s equipment can be compared to today’s top-of-the-line audio equipment. When we first took a look at the IEM 600T Stereo Transmitter for the in-ear monitors, we were surprised at how easy it was to set up the system and tune in the frequencies, and be able to start running.
Each transmitter module has a sleek design and looks good in the single space rack mount. Each module is approximately 8 inches in length and 2 and a half inches in width, and 6 inches in depth. The transmitter module feels really solid in your hand while holding it, so that if you’re an artist touring on the road, you can feel secure bringing this with you, knowing that it can take a few dents and still be okay. It comes with mountable brackets and will easily fit in any single space rack mount. It has a black metal casing, with a brushed grayish blue metal outline that surrounds the dialing instruments on the front of the transmitter module. It has orange rubber buttons that are easy to see and easy to understand. It has one power button, which is easy to see and use—you just hold the button for about two seconds, and you’re up and running. There are also two up and down selector buttons, and one “set” button. There are two knobs, one for adjusting the input gain of the transmitter module, and the other for adjusting the volume of the quarter inch headphone jack that comes on each module.
Just like the bodypacks, it also a bright, vibrant blue LED screen, with white lettering and digits, and is very easy to read. The screen displays the audio frequency that it is transmitting, and also displays clearly the audio frequency levels of each left and right antennae. Changing the frequency on the stereo transmitter is very simple: just click the “set” button, select the desired frequency, and set it in place. Now you’ve changed your frequency! It’s easy to understand, and really quite simple, so that if you have to change your frequencies, it’s not a big hassle to line everything up. It also has a mode select, so you can change from transmitting mono signal to stereo signal, which is a nice feature.
On the back of the transmitter, you’ll see two XLR/quarter-inch balanced inputs, which make it easy to connect from your transmitter to your soundboard. There’s also a 12-18 volt AC adaptor plug input, to power the transmitter, and on the far right of the transmitter, there’s an antenna jack. Along with each transmitter we received a nice eight inch long antenna which boosts your signal strength and distance. The transmitter has a RoHS pad, which can switch either switch from -12 DB to 0 DB. There is a bar code with a serial number, and a sticker indicating the frequency range, which is 838-865MHz.
Overall first impression: we’re VERY impressed. BES is a great company to work with, and we recommend their products to everyone, and are highly looking forward to continue working with them in the future. Their products are professional, their customer service has been supreme and personal, and we’re thankful to be a part of BES audio.
